We care Initiative

At David Owan Care Foundation (DOCAF), our mission is improving lives and transforming communities through holistic approaches.     One of the most heartwarming aspects of our work is the We Care Initiative, a program designed to empower and give hope to the aged, widows, and widowers through welfare support.     DOCAF has dedicated its resources and efforts to easing their burdens and restoring a sense of dignity and belonging.     Through the We Care Initiative, DOCAF has provided financial support to over 300 households in various  Communities.     Join Us in Making a Difference   To partner with us on this Initiative, email us at: info@davidowanfoundation.org

Health is Wealth Initiative

Nigeria’s healthcare system is faced with a number of challenges such as the deplorable state of some of our primary healthcare facilities, which should cater to the health needs of the rural communities. This has resulted in them seeking care at private facilities that they can hardly afford.     Secondly, the increase in health care costs (40%) in fees for service has made it difficult for the populace to afford basic health care.     With a call for collective efforts and genuine partnerships to build a healthier society and as part of our commitment to improving health outcomes amongst vulnerable communities.     Our foundation under the Health is Wealth initiative, as part of our medical intervention paid medical bills for over 15 patients in 5 clinics and traditional orthopedic centers in Cross River State.

Train a Child Initiative

Train a child initiative (Girl Child Education is the single best investment any society can make “Carol Bellamy”)   Congratulations to Justina and Martina as they resumed school as boarding students at Federal Science College, Ogoja (my Alma mater) on a full scholarship and sponsorship from David Owan Care Foundation. Our Program Coordinator, Evans. Ken Akpa was on the ground to facilitate their resumption on behalf of the Foundation. Thank you for your selfless service.   These two students were the outstanding students from Ugboro Community Secondary School during our May 2024, school fees support in Bekwarra LGA.   We agreed to sponsor them through out their academic activities and this is just the beginning. We’re proud of them and I am convinced, they will progress and project our society in a positive direction. Go and make us proud, you have our support all the way, God bless and protect you.

Bridging the Educational Gap

Education is essential for the growth and development of any nation, as well as a powerful force that can change lives, uplift communities and change the world. Nigeria has one of the lowest literary rates in the world despite being the most populous nation in Africa, with only 59% of the adult population being able to read and write. This is a result of challenges such as poor funding, non-implementation of policies, corruption and the widening gap between the urban and rural areas, etc. David Owan Care Foundation is passionate about bridging this gap at the foundational level, and as such embarked on a pilot education project through its Train a Child initiative and provided support through scholarships to 300 secondary education students in Cross River State, this is just part of its planned out programs to strengthen this sector, we will continue to do more towards making measurable progress and impact in achieving the set-out target for SDG(4) Quality Education in the year 2030.
